Liberal Studies Courses in the Department of Statistics
The Florida State University Department of Statistics offers several courses which count as
Liberal Studies credit.
For the Quantitative / Logical Thinking requirement, we
offer:
- STA 1013 Statistics Through Example
- STA 1220 In My Opinion: Introduction to Designing, Conducting and Analyzing Surveys
- STA 2023 Fundamental Business Statistics
- STA 2122 Introduction to Applied Statistics
- STA 2171 Statistics for Biology
STA 2171 is a 4-credit class, each of the other courses is 3 credits. Descriptions of these course can be found in the

For the Scholarship in Practice requirement, we
offer:
- STA 1220 In My Opinion: Introduction to Designing, Conducting and Analyzing Surveys
This 3-credit class is Liberal-Studies Scholarship in Practice, rather than Upper-Division Scholarship in Practice. In addition to receiving
Liberal-Studies Scholarship in Practice credit, this course also provides students with a Quantitative / Logical Thinking course.
