Subject: [Grads] Printer/Copier Rules

Every year, I send out an email regarding our copiers and printers. There have been a few issues in the past regarding them, so I'd like to remind everyone of a few key points.

1) DO NOT PRINT OR COPY ENTIRE BOOKS. This not only uses up a ton of resources, but is illegal. Do not do this. Pretty much every year someone does this, and every year we get angry with that person. PLEASE DON'T PRINT OR COPY ENTIRE BOOKS.

2) If you're going to print/copy something, please be sure to take it with you. There are usually a lot of unclaimed prints/copies at the end of the day, and these are usually left on the tables in the library or on top of the color copier. This leads into my next point.

3) If you don't need your print/copy, or if it printed incorrectly, please do not just leave it around. There is a recycling receptacle for papers in the library and another next to the color copier in the main office. There are also trash cans placed in the hallways. Please help keep our library tidy by properly disposing your unneeded prints/copies. Over the course of the semester, we have many visitors come to our department, and leaving the library messy with paper reflects poorly on us.

If there are any issues with the printers/copiers, such as jams, no ink, or other general issues, you're welcome to ask anyone in the main office (OSB214) to help you out.

Editor's note: you can also contact James. James also advises that if you send a print job and it doesn't print, don't send it again until the problem that caused the first print to fail is resolved. You may not have to send another print job because it is patiently waiting for the printer to become available.
